regabalin 150 mg IP Capsules are a generic formulation of pregabalin, used to treat neuropathic pain, partial-onset seizures, and fibromyalgia.  The active ingredient, pregabalin, works by calming overactive nerves and reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain, thereby decreasing pain signals and preventing seizures. 

Key Uses:

• Neuropathic pain due to diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, or spinal cord injury. 

• Adjunctive treatment for partial-onset seizures in adults and children 1 month of age and older. 

• Management of fibromyalgia in adults.

Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness

• Somnolence (drowsiness)

• Dry mouth

• Edema (swelling)

• Blurred vision

• Weight gain

• Difficulty concentrating

Important Information:

• Dosage: Typically starts at 150 mg/day, divided into two or three doses, with adjustments based on response and tolerability. 

• Renal Function: Dose must be adjusted in patients with reduced kidney function due to renal excretion. 

• Discontinuation: Taper gradually over at least one week to avoid withdrawal symptoms. 

• Safety: Not recommended during breastfeeding; pregnancy use requires risk-benefit assessment. 

• Drug Interactions: Avoid alcohol and be cautious with CNS depressants (e.g., opioids, benzodiazepines). 

This medication is available as a generic (IP) formulation, meaning it meets Indian Pharmacopoeia standards and is typically more affordable than brand-name versions like Lyrica or preGAlin. Always follow your doctor’s instructions and do not stop the medication abruptly.
