Mebendazole Tablets USP 100 mg are a synthetic, broad-spectrum anthelmintic medication used to treat various intestinal worm infections.  Each tablet contains 100 mg of mebendazole, a benzimidazole derivative that works by inhibiting the formation of microtubules in parasitic worms and blocking their glucose uptake, leading to energy depletion and eventual death. 

Key Characteristics

• Form: Chewable or swallowable oral tablets. 

• Appearance: Round, light peach-colored (orange), unscored tablets, debossed with "93" and "107" on one side (or "ap" and "107" for Emverm brand). 

• Active Ingredient: Mebendazole (100 mg per tablet). 

• Inactive Ingredients: Anhydrous lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium saccharin, sodium starch glycolate, stearic acid, and FD&C Yellow No. 6.

• Solubility: Less than 0.05% soluble in water, alcohol, ether, and chloroform; soluble in formic acid. 

Methylene Blue Injection, USP 1% is a sterile solution of methylene blue in water for injection, intended for intravenous administration.  It is primarily indicated for the treatment of acquired methemoglobinemia in pediatric and adult patients.  Each milliliter of the solution contains 10 mg of methylene blue (C₁₆H₁₈ClN₃S·3H₂O), equivalent to 1% strength, and is formulated as a clear dark blue solution with a pH between 3.0 and 4.5. 

The drug functions as an oxidation-reduction agent, promoting the non-enzymatic conversion of methemoglobin (metHb) back to functional hemoglobin.  It is administered intravenously at a dose of 0.1 to 0.2 mL per kilogram of body weight, infused slowly over several minutes.  Due to its hypotonic nature, it should be diluted with 50 mL of 5% dextrose injection before administration to minimize local pain; dilution with sodium chloride solutions is discouraged due to reduced solubility. 

Important safety warnings: Methylene Blue Injection can cause serious or fatal serotonergic syndrome when used with serotonergic drugs such as SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, and certain opioids.  Concomitant use is contraindicated. Common side effects include blue or green urine, altered taste, headache, dizziness, sweating, nausea, skin discoloration, and feeling hot.  Rare but serious effects include confusion and visual disturbances.

It is available in 10 mL single-dose vials (50 mg per vial), packaged in boxes of five vials, and should be stored at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), protected from light.  The product is approved by the FDA and is marketed under various generic names, including by Hikma, Juno Pharma Canada, and BPI Labs

Mesterolone 25 mg Tablet is a synthetic androgen used primarily in men to treat conditions related to low testosterone levels, such as male hypogonadism and infertility due to androgen deficiency.  It works by supplementing the body's natural androgen production, helping to restore hormonal balance and improve symptoms like reduced libido, fatigue, and decreased physical performance. 

Key Uses

• Treatment of male hypogonadism (low testosterone). 

• Improvement of sperm count and quality in men with infertility. 

• Management of androgen deficiency symptoms such as lack of concentration, irritability, depressive states, and potency disturbances. 

Dosage and Administration

• Standard dose: 1 tablet (25 mg) 2–3 times daily. 

• For infertility: Typically taken for about 90 days (one spermatogenesis cycle), with possible repeat treatment after a break. 

• For long-term conditions like hypogonadism, continuous treatment over several months is recommended.

• Tablets should be swallowed whole with water, and taken at the same time each day for consistent levels.

Fluticone FT Nasal Spray is a corticosteroid medication used primarily to treat allergic rhinitis (both seasonal and perennial), nasal congestion, sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and sinus discomfort.  It may also be prescribed for chronic rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyps.  The active ingredient, fluticasone furoate or fluticasone propionate, works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages by inhibiting the release of inflammatory substances like histamines and prostaglandins. 

This spray is for nasal use only and should not be swallowed or used to treat symptoms of the common cold, as it does not address viral infections.  It is typically used once or twice daily, as directed by a physician, with effects becoming noticeable after a few days of regular use. 

     

Flusid B Cream Overview

Flusid B Cream is a topical combination medication used to treat inflamed, itchy, or infected skin conditions, particularly when there is a bacterial infection involved.  It contains two active ingredients:

• Beclomethasone dipropionate (0.1%): A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching by suppressing the body's immune response in the skin. 

• Fusidic acid (0.2%): An antibiotic that prevents the growth of bacteria (especially Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes) by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. 

This dual action makes it effective for conditions like infected eczema, dermatitis, impetigo, folliculitis, and other bacterial skin infections where inflammation is present. 

     

ydroxychloroquine Sulphate 400 mg Tablets are a prescription medication used primarily to treat malaria (including uncomplicated cases caused by Plasmodium falciparum, P. malariae, P. ovale, and P. vivax) and chronic autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and chronic discoid lupus erythematosus.  It is also sometimes used off-label to help improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. 

The tablets are available in a 400 mg strength and are typically taken once daily, either as a single dose or in divided doses, depending on the condition being treated.  For malaria prophylaxis, a weekly dose of 400 mg is recommended, starting 2 weeks before travel to endemic areas and continuing for 4 weeks after leaving. 

Key points:

• Mechanism: Modulates the immune system and has antimalarial activity. 

• Important warnings: Risk of irreversible retinal toxicity (requires baseline and periodic eye exams), cardiomyopathy, serious skin reactions, and neuropsychiatric effects, including suicidality. 

• Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to 4-aminoquinoline compounds. 

• Side effects: Commonly include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Calcitriol 0.25 mcg capsules contain the active form of vitamin D3 (1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol), used to regulate calcium and phosphate metabolism. It is prescribed for conditions such as hypoparathyroidism, renal osteodystrophy, postmenopausal osteoporosis, and vitamin D-dependent rickets. 

The typical starting dose is 0.25 mcg once daily, adjusted based on serum calcium levels.  For hypoparathyroidism, the usual adult maintenance dose ranges from 0.5 to 2 mcg/day.  In dialysis patients, 0.25 mcg/day is common, with adjustments every 4–8 weeks.  For predialysis chronic kidney disease, the initial dose is 0.25 mcg/day, possibly increasing to 0.5 mcg/day. 

 

Patients should maintain adequate dietary calcium intake (600–1200 mg/day), but avoid excessive supplementation
