Ketoconazole Shampoo BP 2% w/v is a medicated antifungal shampoo used primarily for the treatment and prevention of scalp conditions such as dandruff (pityriasis capitis), seborrhoeic dermatitis, and pityriasis versicolor.  The active ingredient, ketoconazole (2% concentration), is a broad-spectrum synthetic antifungal agent that works by inhibiting the growth of fungi like Malassezia, which are responsible for flaking, itching, and scalp irritation. 

The shampoo appears as a red-orange, viscous liquid and contains additional ingredients including coconut fatty acid diethanolamide, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, sodium lauryl ether sulfate, purified water, and coloring agents like Ponceau 4R or FD & C Red No. 40.  It is formulated for topical use only and should not be ingeste
