vermectin 15 mg Tablet is a prescription antiparasitic medication used to treat specific parasitic infections in humans.  It is primarily indicated for:

• Strongyloidiasis (threadworm infection caused by Strongyloides stercoralis)

• Onchocerciasis (river blindness caused by Onchocerca volvulus)

• Scabies (especially crusted scabies, often in combination with topical treatments)

• Head lice infestation (pediculosis capitis)

• Filariasis (including lymphatic filariasis and tropical eosinophilia) 

The tablet contains 15 mg of ivermectin, a semisynthetic derivative of avermectins produced from Streptomyces avermitilis.  It works by binding to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, leading to paralysis and death of parasites. Ivermectin does not cross the blood-brain barrier significantly in humans, which contributes to its safety profile.
