Ricovir EM 200 mg/300 mg Tablet is a combination antiretroviral medication used to treat and prevent HIV-1 infection.  It contains two active ingredients: Emtricitabine (200 mg) and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (300 mg), both of which are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs).  These drugs work by blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which HIV needs to replicate, thereby reducing the amount of virus in the body. 

The tablet helps control HIV infection, improves immune system function by increasing CD4 cell counts, and reduces the risk of HIV-related complications and transmission. It is not a cure for HIV/AIDS but is a key component in long-term management. It is used both as part of combination therapy for people living with HIV and as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for individuals at high risk of acquiring HIV.
