Isotretinoin 10 mg capsules are a prescription medication classified as a retinoid, a derivative of vitamin A, used primarily for the treatment of severe acne, such as nodular or conglobate acne, that has not responded to other therapies like systemic antibiotics and topical treatments. 

The capsules contain 10 mg of isotretinoin as the active ingredient, which works by significantly reducing sebum (oil) production in the skin, killing acne-causing bacteria, preventing clogged pores, and reducing inflammation.  This multi-targeted action helps clear existing acne and prevents new breakouts, improving skin texture and reducing scarring.

Isotroin 20 Capsule is a prescription medication containing isotretinoin, a potent retinoid derived from vitamin A. It is primarily used to treat severe nodular or cystic acne that has not responded to other treatments like antibiotics or topical therapies. 

• Mechanism of Action: Reduces sebum (oil) production by shrinking sebaceous glands, prevents clogged pores, and decreases inflammation. It also helps normalize skin cell turnover and reduces acne-causing bacteria. 

• Dosage & Administration: Typically taken twice daily with food to improve absorption.  Treatment duration is usually 4–5 months, and it must be taken exactly as prescribed. 

• Effectiveness: Visible improvement may occur within 2–4 weeks, with many patients achieving long-term acne clearance even after treatment ends. 

• Important Precautions:

  • Highly teratogenic: Can cause severe birth defects. Pregnancy is contraindicated; strict contraception is required for women of childbearing age.

  • Avoid alcohol due to increased risk of liver damage and elevated cholesterol.
