Armodafinil 150 mg tablets are a prescription medication used to improve wakefulness in adults with excessive sleepiness caused by obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), narcolepsy, or shift work sleep disorder (SWD).  The active ingredient, armodafinil, is the R-enantiomer of modafinil, making it a more potent and longer-lasting wakefulness-promoting agent.  It works by modulating neurotransmitters like dopamine, norepinephrine, and histamine in the brain, enhancing alertness without the typical jitteriness of traditional stimulants. 

• Dosage & Administration:

  • OSA or Narcolepsy: 150 mg once daily in the morning.

  • Shift Work Sleep Disorder: 150 mg taken approximately one hour before the start of the work shift. 

  • Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water.

  • Consistency in timing is key for optimal effect. 

• Appearance: White to off-white, oval-shaped, uncoated tablets debossed with ‘K’ on one side and ‘59’ on the other (as per FDA labeling). 

• Common Side Effects (≥5%): Headache, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, dry mouth, and anxiety. 

• Serious Side Effects (rare but require immediate medical attention):
